The future of IBM Planning Analytics isn’t about adding AI. It’s about helping people make better decisions - a CFO, an FP&A manager, a business leader, and a developer need very different AI experiences from the same planning model.

As it always happens, when a new version of IBM Planning Analytics gets released we all tend to go to the "What's New" section to look for new features. When IBM Planning Analytics v12 came along though, most of us started gravitating to the non-existent "What's Gone" section instead. ExecuteCommand, TM1 Web, SaveDataAll, audit logs, the }Stats cubes... all gone. We all know functions come and go with every new iteration, but such deeply nested ones are rarely touched. How could we ever live without running a non-TM1 script from a process?!

Every IBM Planning Analytics practitioner has had some version of this conversation lately: someone (a colleague, an account rep, a slide in an IBM deck) asks whether you're “ready for v12.” It's usually asked the way you'd ask if someone has started their holiday shopping: casually, like there's an obviously right answer, and like everyone else has already given theirs.
