IBM Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW) 2.0.103 / 2.1.10
IBM Planning Analytics Workspace version 2.0.103 (also known as 2.1.10) brings a wave of enhancements designed to make planning, analysis, and administration even more powerful. While this update includes a wide range of improvements, several features stand out for the immediate value they deliver to end users, modellers, and administrators.
Details
- Version: 2.0.103 (Planning Analytics 2.0) / 2.1.10 (Planning Analytics 2.1)
- Released: April 22, 2025
Here’s a closer look at four key highlights from this release:
Create Views Using Natural Language (Cloud Only)
Finding the right data view no longer requires navigating through complex hierarchies or building custom reports manually. With the introduction of the Data Explorer feature, users can now create views simply by typing a natural language request — for example, “Break down net income by region month over month.”
The AI-powered engine interprets the request, recommends relevant views, and explains the logic behind the suggestions. Users can either insert the recommended view directly into a book or fine-tune it further.
📌 Important: This feature is available in Planning Analytics Workspace Cloud and requires the Planning Analytics AI Assistant add-on.
Why it matters:
This innovation reduces the learning curve for new users, speeds up data exploration, and empowers business users to access insights without needing deep technical knowledge.
Use the Format Manager to Apply Formatting to Hierarchies
Consistency and clarity are essential in reporting — and formatting plays a big role. The Format Manager has been enhanced with a new Hierarchy tab, allowing users to apply formatting rules across entire hierarchies.
Users can now easily set styles for entire branches of a dimension without manually adjusting each member or view.
Why it matters:
Applying consistent formatting at the hierarchy level improves readability, supports corporate reporting standards, and reduces manual rework when structures evolve.
Increase the Flexibility of Baseline Forecasts by Allowing Users to Override Default Context Members
Baseline forecasts are a powerful way to automate predictive modelling in Planning Analytics. With this update, forecast templates can be made more dynamic by allowing users to override default context members at run time.
Instead of needing separate baseline forecasts for each business unit, product line, or geography, users can adjust the scope themselves when generating a forecast.
Why it matters:
This flexibility saves administrators from creating and maintaining multiple baseline configurations while giving planners more autonomy to explore different scenarios quickly.
Set Database Thresholds and Alerts in TM1 Database 12
Administrators now have a new tool for proactive system management:
In environments running TM1 Database 12, custom thresholds can be set for memory usage and CPU usage, with automated alerts when thresholds are breached.
Why it matters:
Instead of waiting for system slowdowns or outages to signal a problem, administrators can now catch and address resource issues early — improving system uptime, user experience, and operational confidence.

IBM Planning Analytics Workspace version 2.0.103, also known as 2.1.10, was released on April 22, 2025. In this update, we’ll explore key enhancements across reporting, modelling and administration that can help you work smarter and faster.
What’s new in Books and Reporting.
A new Data Explorer feature is now available for the Cloud version. Type a natural language question, for example, break down net income by region month over month, and the AI Assistant will recommend views based on what it understands from your TM1 data.
These come with explanations, and you can modify or insert the view directly into your book. Please note, to use this feature, you’ll need Planning Analytics AI Assistant Add-on.
A new Hierarchy tab has been added to the Format Manager, allowing you to apply consistent formatting rules across entire hierarchies. This improves readability and visual consistency in reports.
There is more control over the appearance of your reports. Use member and hierarchy formatting to set both background and font colours for data cells and headers. This makes important data stand out more clearly.
Parameter controls for TI processes have been expanded. You can choose to pass either the member name or the member unique name. In addition, there is a new control type, Set List, which allows you to pass named subsets to a process. These changes can make parameter passing in action buttons much more flexible.
What’s new in Modelling.
There is more control over how leaf elements appear when writing rules. In the workbench preferences, you can choose between a clean dimension and element format or a full hierarchy path. This helps streamline the rule writing experience by either reducing visual clutter or giving you more context, depending on your preference.
The Dimension Editor lets you change a leaf member to a consolidated type even before assigning children. This makes it much easier to restructure dimensions on the fly without needing to rebuild or remove existing elements.
Shortcuts aren’t for websheets and views anymore. You can create shortcuts to processes, chores, subsets, and more, all organised under the Applications folder in the Data tree. It’s a simple way to improve access to the assets you use most, especially in larger or shared models.
Baseline forecasts can now be configured to let users override the default context members. This gives users more control over their forecast scope without needing admins to maintain multiple forecast templates. A win for both flexibility and maintenance.
New sorting controls have been added to both File Manager and Drive Explorer. You can sort files by name, last updated, type, or size. This is especially helpful for locating the right file quickly in environments with lots of folders and files.
What’s new in Administration.
Administrators working with TM1 Database 12 can now define custom thresholds and receive alerts for memory usage and CPU usage. This enhancement helps monitor performance more proactively, making it easier to identify and address resource issues before they affect users.
That’s the last feature for this version.
