Insights on IBM Planning Analytics
We are excited to release the TM1py Post Training Insight, TM1py Connection Checker.
Marius Wirtz, the creator of TM1py, developed this small tool to simplify the testing of various connection parameters and aid in troubleshooting errors encountered when connecting from TM1py to TM1.
The motivation behind its creation is to streamline the process of diagnosing connection issues by providing a readily available tool for testing different parameters. This tool aims to eliminate the need for repeatedly writing similar code while still offering an easy-to-use interface for identifying common exceptional states, such as incorrect credentials, improper port configurations, or TM1 server unavailability.
The TM1py Connection Checker serves as a valuable resource for users seeking to efficiently diagnose and address connectivity issues within their TM1 environment.

Valuation challenges and dry powder in private equity
The recent economic trends have sparked a notable surge in limited partnership investments within private markets, signaling promising prospects for the industry’s long-term growth. This positive momentum in returns has driven increasingly sophisticated investors to allocate a larger portion of their strategic asset allocation (SAA) to private markets across various asset classes.
Whether focusing on private equity (encompassing venture capital, growth, and buy-out deals), private debt, private real estate, or infrastructure investments, there exists a plethora of opportunities for adept institutional investors to venture into the private investing realm. This can be achieved through direct investments in specific assets, participation in investment funds structured as Limited Partnerships, adopting a fund of funds model, or engaging with a traditional hedge fund.
In this article, the Apliqo FP&A team’s emphasis will be on the Limited Partnership approach, elucidating the distinct benefits it offers in contrast to direct investments. Furthermore, they will delve into three specific use cases for portfolio management technology that can enhance outcomes in these types of transactions.
