Modelling – Sales

Build Your First TM1 Model from the Ground Up.

This is not just a course. It’s a development challenge designed to take you from practice to performance—equipping you to build a complete TM1 model that reflects how professionals deliver in the real world.

In Modelling – Sales, you’ll step into the role of a TM1 developer, working across data integration, business logic, and reporting to create a functional sales model for a fictitious company.

Structured into three progressive stages—Guided, Structured, and Independent—you’ll gain the confidence to design, build, test, and troubleshoot your model through an iterative, development-first approach.

It’s demanding, but deeply rewarding.

How It Works

Each stage runs over 5 consecutive business days with a recommended commitment of:

  • 4+ hours per day (study and development)
  • 1 hour per day (live mentoring and support)

The further you progress, the more ownership you take. Mentoring decreases from stage to stage to help you become an independent, confident TM1 developer.

    Our Learning Methodology

    Develop. Test. Troubleshoot. Improve.

You’ll follow the natural rhythm of real-world TM1 development—learning to think critically, problem-solve, and own the entire build process. Each part builds toward a complete sales model that integrates revenue, inventory, and forecast logic.

        What You’ll Build: Guided Stage

        Hands-on with strong mentor support.

        • Create and update dimensions from source data using TurboIntegrator
        • Manually maintain standalone dimensions
        • Build the core cube
        • Load actuals from the source system
        • Set up key logic: Net Sales, Gross Profit and more
        • Build Excel-based reporting
        • Create a navigable book in IBM Planning Analytics Workspace

          What You’ll Build: Structured Stage

          More autonomy, mentor check-ins.

          • Load forecast data (Sales Price, Cost Price) via TurboIntegrator
          • Implement forecast logic for Sales, Cost, Quantity, Actualisation
          • Add Forecast and Actual parameters
          • Expand Excel reporting with forecast integration
          • Add Forecast inputs to the Workspace book

            What You’ll Build: Independent Stage

            Minimal guidance—test your ability.

            • Implement logic for Purchase Quantity
            • Build a guided Workspace dashboard that represents the full model
            • Perform cube reordering to optimise performance and usability

              Outcome

By the end of the course, you’ll have:

              • Built a fully working sales model in TM1
              • Strengthened your ability to develop independently
              • Gained experience with Planning Analytics
              • Prepared yourself for professional delivery and the TM1 Developer Credential

                Who It’s For

This course is ideal for TM1 developers who are ready to take the next step—moving beyond learning features into confidently applying them in a real-world build.
