Hi TM1 and Planning Analytics community, it is Bryan from Cubewise. I am excited to share the latest updates on IBM Planning Analytics Workspace for 2.0.98 (2098), also known as 2.1.5 (215), released on August 21, 2024.
Let’s start with what’s new in books and reporting.
When members in a dynamic set are reordered or a new member is inserted, the set is converted to a static set to preserve the layout, changing the MDX expression. The burst reports feature provides the capability to print each member of a set for a selected hierarchy to a PDF or PowerPoint file. Formatting numbers have been improved. You can now mix the type of formatting on a data area by using the Format Manager to apply a global format and for a member using the Member Format For example, the member, Other Income, has been set to thousands whereas the rest are rounded with the dollar sign.
Additional features have been added to the Planning Analytics AI assistance, which includes the action List, Undo and Redo and member calculations such as division, multiplication and subtraction. You can now Filter rows and columns based on cell values from the cube viewer. These new filters are called Filter by Count and Filter by Value. Filter by count returns the top or bottom members based on items, percent or sum. Filter by value returns cells based on an amount, for instance returning values greater than 100,000.
Next, let’s look at what’s new in modelling.
You can now lock and unlock an element which allows you to permanently prevent the data from changing, which you might want to do after a budget has been approved. The improved MDX editor comes with many upgrades that includes autocomplete, syntax colouring, undo, redo, find and replace, and indenting. Document the workbench with the new Notes area to write instructions for team members or comment on its purpose. This best practice enhances understanding, facilitates collaboration and ensures the long term maintainability of the model. For the cloud version only, Drive Explorer gives approved users access to S: Drive on the remote server and full access to the file system. This will allow users to create folders, organise files, and copy and paste capabilities.
Lastly, what’s new in administration.
The Satellite Connector allows IBM Planning Analytics on Cloud to connect to a private network using a VPN by providing improved bandwidth and client’s connection compared to the IBM Secure Gateway which it replaces. Please note that the IBM Secure Gateway has an end of support scheduled for October 26, 2024. In conjunction with the new Drive Explorer, a capabilities tab is available for administrators to manage who has access to the Drive Explorer. This is available for IBM Planning Analytics Cloud only. The integration formally, IBM Cloud Pak for Data, which supports Decision Optimization in Planning Analytics Workspace on the cloud, has been renamed to IBM watsonx.ai. As result of this change, you can now configure multiple deployments of IBM watsonx.ai under integrations.
And that wraps up the updates on IBM Planning Analytics Workspace.
